Carrie-Anne
Moss was born the youngest of two children. She
had early aspirations of becoming an actress. At
the tender age of 11, she went to act in school
plays. At 17 she was taking acting classes. During
her senior year at Magee Secondary, she went to
Europe with her school choir. One of her friends,
urged her to stay in Spain and model but she was
still bent on pursuing her dream of Hollywood acting.
In Spain, she received an opportunity as a legal
secretary, Tara McDonald, in the TV show Dark Justice
(1991) which was produced in Spain during the first
season. The shows production moved to L.A after
only one season. Carrie-Anne headed to California
in search of better acting roles, there.
In L.A.,
appeared in several films and had guest appearances
on TV shows. She auditioned and got a starring role
on Aaron Spelling's primetime soap opera Models
Inc (1994) as Carrie Spencer, an aging model with
a lot of anxiety issues. The show was cancelled
after less than a season. She was back on the TV
screen a year later as Lucinda Scott on F/X: The
Series (1996) and back in Toronto where the show
was produced. She did one notable TV appearance,
in Due South (1996) as Irene Zuko in the episode
"Juliet is Bleeding." This episode won Carrie-Anne
a Gemini Award nomination for Best Performance by
an Actress in a Guest Role. Her big break came in
The Matrix playing the wildly popular cyberwarrior
Trinity. She laboured over this role very intensely,
training for months for the action sequences demanded
by the film. Currently, Carrie-Anne Moss resides
in Beverly Hills and is hard at work on new projects.
Her most recent film, Red Planet was a good performance
for her, but the film was a box office flop with
mediocre reviews. I hope we can see her in good
style during the next Matrix film. |
